Project 3 - Medical Care: Pavas & Leon XIII Day Care Centers (Costa Rica - Latin America North Territory)

The children that attend the Pavas and Leon XIII day care centers come from a community of working mothers or family members that rely on The Salvation Army to help with the care of children from a few weeks old till 6 years old. Children at this age have crucial healthcare needs that will allow them to lead a healthy life. With a gift of $50, this will allow a child to receive a physical and dental checkup.

A group of mothers, worried about the education of their children since most

members of the community were illiterate, asked The Salvation Army to create

a school support program for their youngsters. The Rayito de Luz Center was

created in 1994. Its main objective is to improve the academic performance of

children through tutoring. A $25 gift will go toward providing tutoring

for the children of this community
