All the money raised by The MOST Amazing Race funds The Salvation Army's programs for at risk youth in Wake County. To date, the race has raised more than $70,000. Thanks in part to funds raised from this event, The Salvation Army of Wake County's Community Center can continue to foster an environment of physical, emotional, and spiritual growth. Here are specific ways that money helps.
The Salvation Army's After-school and Track-out Programs provide a safe and positive environment for children (ages 5-12) to learn more about God, meet new friends and become more self-sufficient. The many activities focus on developing a child's mind, body and spirit...but to the kids, it's all just fun and games!
Each year over 1,000 youth participate in The Salvation Army's Instructional Athletics Program, learning the importance of team play and good sportsmanship. Always maintaining a Christ-centered atmosphere, there are pre-game devotions and prayers for each sport. Here, children are taught that winning means having fun, learning fundamental skills and being a part of a team where he or she makes a difference.
